Standing Beneath The Mistletoe

by Mike Loftis

His young heart is pounding
inside of his chest
He's prayed for the moment
now hopes for the best
He looks for the girl
and hopes she won't know
he's standing beneath the mistletoe
Laughter and joyful
noises abound
He searches the room
for the girl he found
to be the most pretty
She'd better not know
he's standing beneath the mistletoe
His mother is calling
but he stays out of fear
that moving may cost him
his chances this year
The girl is coming
and he bets she won't know
he's standing beneath the mistletoe
Across the room
an angel's face
in a dress of white linen
garnished with lace
He catches her eye
Time starts to move slow
Standing beneath the mistletoe
He's too young to know
that love is a game
She walks right up to him
and asks him his name
then puckers her lips
and says do you know
we're standing beneath the mistletoe

Ahhh young romance! I would never have been so bold I think! A bit of nostalgia, a bit of whimsey, a lot of mistletoe fun in this well written rhyme.

Hi Mike, How sweet and romance flowing in the air. Youngsters waiting for their first kiss under the mistletoe. I also agree with Que. Great write.
