Libra and Gemini by Uriel Tovar
Through the light of human urges
focused on the planet's turn
comes a glimmer of hope, unbroken
leading to a newer end.
Freedom
screeching by our grasps
leaves boiling blisters on our
hands.
The ropes which once held us together
pull us further to our end.
There was a time, there was a time -- we could have grabbed the reigns?
Fragmented light sees very little
through shattered lenses.
Now it cuts further in.
You know neither the time
nor the place.
Empty words
spoken to drowned men.
Better world would give better words.
Broken lines.
Climb higher than before
onto
that pedestal.
We were once that bright.

Posted by Michelle Angelini on 12/03/04 at 08:37 PM I echo Paul's comments. I love the gentleness in your poem and the imagery that doesn't sugarcoat the truth. Good work! |
