The Saddest Song

by Uriel Tovar

The pain seeps through the cracks
Of her broken body
Emptied of face.

Sand clumps around her blood
Leaving the beach tinted red--
Pink.
Foam hits her eyes
As they stare out at an orange and deep blue background
--light breaking on sinking waves.

Her hair,
That danced
Now is weighted by earth.

A stark word-painting, with a great finish.
