About Flowers

by Alicia Vann

I tasted solitude walking through a
Melancholy flower bed.
I quipped at a Lily that I knew her once
She wilted a little in disappointment
I tried to sit at ease amongst
The prettiest patch.
My limbs and mind betrayed me.
I caught a glimpse of a weed
That I thought might welcome me
I thought too much of me, I guess.
I waste too much time thinking
About flowers.
