The Vampire

by Ava Blu

I saw you today
Your body gracefully walking
Your eyes melting the sun
I had to stop myself from reaching for you
You seemed to be right beside me but I knew better
I remembered how far away you always are
As you turned toward me I hid from your sight
I wasn’t ready to be known yet
I wanted to stay dead a little longer
Hoping it would numb your heart
You spoke with such sweetness
I lost myself in your voice
Everyone around stopped just to listen
They seemed paralyzed
I remember when I was the only one you wanted to hear
Now there’s an empty face beside you
He’s holding your hand
He’s kissing your cheek
And he’s taking my place
You walked further away without me
I’m left cowering here with a hole in my chest
I can still see your shadow in the distance
As you bend over and rip out His heart as well
But your shadow is still exquisite
Even as blood drips from your lips
Another victim left with only one thing to look forward to

Being with you in hell.
