this backwards Oreo reminds me of love
the change is subtle, yet within each bite you can taste something new
your tongue was accustomed to the chocolate being on the outside
now it has to form a new opinion
i don't know exactly when i became a pessimist
(i think it was when i realized my Oreos were gone)
or perhaps it was the day you told me to throw away my dreams
maybe love is supposed to be backwards
you spend the majority of your life becoming comfortable with some preconceived ideal that it takes your heart a moment to figure out why the creme is now black.
