Accidental Liability
by Ava BluI broke your heart today
Stepped on it by accident
I hadn't seen it lying there on the floor
I picked it up and tried to mend it
I wiped the filth off
I washed it with my tears
I thought my sadness would help
(always seemed to make you happier)
I slit my wrist
Letting your heart soak up my blood
I just knew that was going to work
Still there it was, lifeless
I couldn't save your poor heart
So I placed it inside this box
Along with this letter
Detailing how sorry I am
Then I stabbed my own heart
And let my body go limp
Praying death would help
So this way our hearts will still be together
And maybe in death our lives will make sense.
