Home

we who daydream

by Karen Michelle

I saw the ocean
at eleven am
and wanted to
swim into you.

The horizon lapped
at my spirits
and called me
into a world
of other.

On the edge of
this weekly outburst,
I am planning
new ways to
drink up tomorrow.

But these imminent
breakdowns of a world
on the verge, have me
floored...

And so I pull
the comfort of home
closer to me, tighten
the familiarity of
these surroundings
around my neck, and
dream of a lifetime
of affirmation;
absolution.
