The Affair

by Thomas K. Hunt

Consumption has taken over
A constant thought that fills the mind
Lustful pleasure that's been missing
from this life for too long of time

Two souls that need each other
make this journey worth the time
Separated by circumstance
yet together in thoughts of the mind

Short times spent together
making the most of minutes passed
Loving touches for each other
Yearning for the time to last

Smiling eyes closed in passion
Moistened lips breeding heat
Understanding true compassion
Forbidden fruit that taste so sweet

Longing for more time together
Thoughts of what could be
Realizing the reality
Neither soul is truly free

they can be very painful but bittersweet addictions, can't they? Well said.

Thomas, everytime I read your poetry, I'm amazed that I can like a rhymed poem. Your lines and stanzas read so smoothly, that I forget about the rhyme. The art is in the message and you do it very well.
