"The Effects of Love"

by Max Phineas

Can you hear the moonlight
If you press your ear against a window?
Can you see the thunder
If you squint into the darkness?
Can you feel the welcoming shadows
If you reach out to touch me?
I can when I'm with you.

The moon whispers to me as you hold me firmly in your arms.
The storm reveals itself in all its glory
And I see it as you hold my hand.
The shadows tickle my back
As we sit together on the porch.

Because you have a way with me.

I look at things with fresh eyes
Listen to sounds with new ears
I can touch the sky.
And embrace the stars
When I'm with you.

Like Julie, I loved the images. This is a wonderfully sentimental poem without being mushy. Just beautiful -"feel the welcoming shadows," "The moon whispers," "embrace the stars." Great poem Cole.
