sugar coating by Amy NiggelYou say the word love
and it sounds the color of honey
that golden translucent shade
lovely and shimmering upon your lips
and I want nothing so much
as to touch them
take those words from your mouth
but I fear image to be misleading
that the words won't taste as sweet as they sound
so I hold back
awaiting proof
all too often I have bitten life's apple
only to have it turn sour on my tongue
I do not ask for sweetness
I only seek truth
sugar coating never helped get things down my throat
they always made me gag 11/18/2004 Author's Note: this was actually written a while ago, but I just revised it to be put up, I suck at punctuation so yeah there is none.
