a singe of autumn & wisps of your hair

by Wendy Geal

i was awoken by the smooth and subtle stretch
of your palms and arms, eyes smiling wide and lips
breathing in and out wisps of air and
letting each breath crash against my skin
perfect waves i wash myself upon like a shore
during the nights and cold brushes of autumn
i feed on them
and let the rain pour downandout across me
i am used to these things, i have singed in your
radiation i have breathed in your kiss like a rush of air
i have stopped dead and birthed you stillborn
when the shadows of your silhouette went falling across me
calling and calling
