many things
this creature doesn’t say
and many more this creature doesn’t know.
Too many things
this creature doesn’t say
are things
this creature will not show.
Many things
this docile creature thinks
are things
this creature won’t confess,
and many things
this quiet creature, like the Sphinx,
are things
this thing would rather that you guess.

“Who I am,”
in measured breaths this creature speaks,
“is who I am to me.
Who I am,”
this creature hums,
“won’t be what you want it to be.”

Many things
this passive creature thinks
are things
this creature won’t confess,
and many things
this subtle creature, like the Sphinx,
are things
this thing would rather have you guess.
