i shut my eyes to scratch you out. by Wendy Geali have watched a sunrise wake from your horizon
your smooth eyes lying like an ocean against the shore of your lids.
they open and shut crashing again and again against your skin.
i drown in the shocking ways your lips conjure up such
irrational impulses of me
i shun at myself when you go, i wish it dark
by shutting my eyes and wishing they'd never reopen
but all i see in the night are your
slow lit shadows gracing mine
and hunting me down
and the darkness blackening out the sunlight 11/14/2004 Posted on 11/15/2004 Copyright © 2025 Wendy Geal
