I Fall Apart as You Fall Asleep by Amanda J CobbWorn out and stretched thin
from endless nights
spent watching subtitled movies
from countries I've never seen
because I couldn't sleep
with this heart full of unasked questions
since I reminded you that
I'll be boarding a plane
for the other side of the world soon,
and you laid complacent next to me,
only saying that it will be
interesting. 11/13/2004 Author's Note: Original title: "Insomnia."

Posted by George Hoerner on 07/27/18 at 01:46 AM interesting, the word we use when we don't know what to say or won't say what comes to mind. One of the 'polite words unless you think about it. But I do like your poetry. 'Interesting' how that last word has all of its letters on the top line. |
