it was more than a smile
and less than a laugh
but oh, don’t worry lover
your disease is nothing like
mine.

and while i am a novice
when it comes to fiction,
i have the truth contained
like oxygen in a swimming
pool.

yet it’s not until i attempt
to breathe while completely
submerged that i realize
the significance of your
laughsmile that i wrote
off as just a
chuckle.

you contain truthreality in your lips.
congratulations;
your disease is much more effective
than mine.
