Your Sweater

by Becca Morton

“It’s taking everything in me just to forget your sweater so far”
- The Spill Canvas

I had it wrapped around me…
Your sweater… the brown one with the beige cuffs

And I held onto it so tightly…
Afraid to let that part of you go
Because I know you…
And you’ll be gone tomorrow.

You’ll leave me here…
You’ll walk away without a second glance

And I held onto it so tightly…
Afraid to lose you… afraid to care
Because I know how this goes…
And it’ll all be over tomorrow.

I’ll cry in my room…
Crimson tears staining my pillow

And I held onto it so tightly…
Afraid to really hurt again
Because I fell for you…
And I'll still be waiting for you tomorrow
