This Fire

by J. P. Davies

I drew a line between
faith an certainty,
then jumped into the air.

Landed in a mystery,
lost track of all my dignity,
I found some solace there.

If it's okay to feel today,
then I guess I'll excercise,
the right to numb this out.

It's cold to the touch,
but it burns too much,
to put this fire out.

Let Go!
It's okay to feel nothing at all.

I threw a dream into the river,
and watched it float out to sea.

Swallowed my pride,
and waited for the tide,
to bring it back to me.

If I stand here until the end,
then I guess it was too much,
to ask for its return.

It's getting cold,
but too hot to hold.
I've watched this fire burn

Let Go!
It's okay to feel nothing at all.
