Ophelia's Phoenix

by Vikki Owens

Ophelia,
restful,
languid though the water is,
stars can burn and light again,
reignite, though doused.

Wings can bear the weight of
water, can cut through
the ebbs and tides,
spread from shore to shore
in a resurfacing.

Resurrect, Ophelia,
supernova from the depths,
burn away the stream,
leave nothing in the water
but the charred
remains of flowers.
