not disappointed

that day, you know which one i mean ...
you were'nt very happy were you?

i saw your smile but it was soggy
and hangy-down, heavy with disappointment.

then when she calls--your best friend--
your smile becomes weightless, helium-filled.

can i trade your smiles with her? would she
want the ones you give me?

probably not, she's no fool.
