DUST

by S. Pelham Flood

is all we
are in the end,
polluting
where we once
had been.

Trying not to be
lost in forever, I came
in the world
and struggled to know myself
never once finding
footing and falling from my eyes
were the tears that you
cried out when my path was at end.

No memories here,
no lasting imprint on your flesh.
Just a void in
your heart
and dust on your chest.

Great work on this. I particularly like the last two lines, leaves a very clear and moving image.
