do the same

by Emily G Myers

I say to him ‘I’ve had a good break. My creative pen is alive and well.’
‘That’s great’ he answers, ‘but my life is still a living hell.’
He’ll never hurt himself, he assures me of that again and again.
He’s so creative and just like me with his characters. Smart, not yet ready to begin.

‘I just hate humans today’ he says, most likely expecting sympathy.
But I know him too well, and I respond, ‘I hate humans every day and you don’t see me complaining.’
We sure can dish it out but we still can take it.
I try to be friends with the Cornflake girl and end up a raisin girl. That’s so quirky.

We share a special bond. I can say anything. To some degree we understand each other, even though you don’t like to admit it. You confuse me sometimes but I’m sure I do the same. Yeah, we’ll always do the same.
