arson

by Emily G Myers

So, I don't like what they're teaching here History sprinkled with anti-Catholicism
The authority's down on our generation
We don't know what war is or love or true respect
Just cuz we've never seen war doesn't mean we don't love our freedom
If we've never seen war, doesn't that say something about us?

Inflict your fascism, we won't mind
Is that really what you think?
So you're trying to know our opinions?
Yeah right, I strongly doubt it
I've got a newsflash; Catholicism is not the perversion of Christianity
And not all of us are heathens cuz we listen to Tori Amos
I know you think so

More than you think, we are the children of light
Though sometimes we walk in the shadows
We're all trying to find ourselves and you're just bringing us down
The poets of old were nothing like you though you try to mimic their actions
The moral is ever fading and you're the biggest problem

They say Nero fiddled while Rome burned
Well, if I played my guitar as I set fire to this place, wouldn't that be the same?
My short-term goal is to be an arsonist
A pint-sized arsonist
Set the world as it should be
The only way is arson
