boys aren't men

by Emily G Myers

'Things are getting desperate when all the boys can't be men' ~ Tori Amos

I didn't know that boys could become men
And then return to their original boyhood
I guess maturity comes and goes
You were once so dignified
Such an example of a 'real man'
I'm only just finding you
So shrunken on the inside
Growing younger instead of older
I suppose this is my cue to follow the sun
The harmony we had is skipping out of tune
Only because you're shrinking inside
And it is truly sad
When men become boys
