frost in your eyes

by Emily G Myers

I try but I never can get warm
running from the frost in your eyes
and the ice in your touch
but I just can't escape it
that coldness I've grown to know
I thought maybe you were warm
I guess I was wrong
because I'm not getting any heat from you
my skin doesn't burn when I touch you
it becomes frostbitten instead
and you keep giving more of your love
that love like liquid nitrogen
it fill my heart
and turns it cold
colder than the depth of winter
and yet you give me more
stranger than that,
I keep accepting it
