To Harbor Pretty by Angela CottermanPoetry is pretty
wrapped in sequence
sometimes with rhyme
sometimes with spin
that leaves the beginning
far from the end.
But I have left pretty
in Barbados
and there is only
South End sand
wet in a coffee cup
taken regular
and regular here
is not black but bitter
sweet with cream.
Poetry is pretty
when sepia thighs
turn the candlelight
into your lover's eyes
but I have left pretty
at the beginning
and end here
still
with poetry. 10/25/2004 Posted on 10/26/2004 Copyright © 2025 Angela Cotterman
