another gemini poem

by Emily G Myers

so you read and read
and somehow you know you're not the same as everyone else
but you're empty inside so how could you be anything at all?
and you stop wondering where those scars came from
because all you ask about is why everything comes in pairs
and you're a Gemini so you get sucked in
way down deep into the twin thing
and you can't escape that threat of mental illness
yeah, you know it's too late to live
you'll never feel real love
because you hate it and crave it all at once
every man you near is a man you'll push away
every time you yell "get away!" you coda with "don't leave me!"
always the same result
the ones you love are the ones you stab
after you're done stabbing yourself
so why do you even try to be normal?
why even try to stay alive?
what's the point of being awake if you lie in bed all day?
if you've ever felt lust you wouldn't know it
what is love or intimacy to a person who is nothing inside?
but you keep your reaching
and maybe it's just to be warm
or maybe it's just to be cold cause you're already on fire
women who pay for this are the ones who are truly paid
and you're broke
the only thing you understand is death in one form or another
you've never breathed the word hope
cause that synapse just wasn't there

soon you'll be on your way
flying away from the disaster area called home
deep inside you know
you can't ever come back
