You Weren't There for Me

by Megan Langley

Was I just convenient?
A topic of a show-off conversation.
It seems funny how you didn't
Mention me to the girl you claimed you didn't know.

At the time I was laughin',
But you didn't pick me up, no nooo...
When I fell on the ground,
I turned around but you weren't there for meee...

But at least you respected
The precious boundaries that I had set for you.
Wait, no, I take that back,
You were the one who set the limits for me.

At the time I was laughin',
But you didn't lift me off the floor.
As I cried for you to help me,
I turned around but you weren't there for meee...

But I would never trade it,
Those moments lying there within your arms.
Even the crazy late night talks,
Though neither of us can recall much of anything.

At the time I was laughin',
But you didn't pick me up, no nooo...
When I fell on the ground,
I turned around but you weren't there for meee...

I was laughin',
I was cryin',
But you weren't there for meee...
You weren't there for meee...

Author's Note: I know it's hard to imagine what a song sounds like. The chorus has a different beat than the rest of the song, so it doesn't all sound the same. It does work to music though!

Hi Megan, Great write and song. It has it's own beauty and sadness too. I know that feeling, You weren't There For Me. I'd like to hear the music to it.
