Maybe It's Killing Me.

by Trisha De Gracia

It drifted through the air.
Buzzes and bubbles and pops of it.
Your laughter chimed into my ears
and I started to cry.

Quietly
in the silent class
nothing except for your happiness
filling the gaps.

And she was beside me.
Before, when she understood,
or when I thought she did,
I could have had a hand to hold me up.

But the room was dead
except for your jokes
and your merriment.

And her face was the reflection
of every blank, dead stare
that I ever gave her.

I can't sleep through this.
There's nothing in your sound but hollow
and there's nothing in my ears but blood
and you have just evaporated.

I felt my chest
give way.

Author's Note: And the landscape is empty. And everyones in love with themselves. And my voice stretches out to forever. But he's there to catch you, so you can breathe easy. You used to catch me.

Your gonna hate me for using a quote but, "Don't worry, I'll catch you."

In the OJ from concentrate....And her face was the reflection of every blank, dead stare that I ever gave her. There's nothing in your sound but hollow and there's nothing in my ears but blood and you have just evaporated......these are the strongest, most potent, acidic lines. searingly brilliant .

This is very powerful. Sad to read and easy to relate to.
