Why Evil

by Carl Walker

Why Evil

Why evil said little Melissa

Doesn’t evil prove there is no God

It is so bad

So black

So sad

How do you know there is evil?

Said uncle Billy

How do you know that evil is evil?

For there to be an up

There must be a down

For there to be hot

There must be not hot

Evil doesn’t prove there is not God

Evil proves there is something

That is not-evil

And what is it

We know evil is bad

Because we know good is good

How do we know good is good,

Asked little Melissa

How do you know you like ice cream?

Asked Uncle Billy,

With a scoop in his hand

All over the world

All peoples

At all times

Know there is good

We don’t always agree on what is good

But we know it is there

How, oh how, can we know what is truly good?

absolute good

real good

a man or a woman can only judge by what they see

if we are to see what is truly good

we must have help from someone

who has a higher place to stand

than we do, sweetie,

said uncle Billy

God stands over the sunset

Seeing all the hearts of man

He wants to draw our eyes to what is good

To the greatest beauty

To see Him in splendor

To do that

Doesn’t he use

Evil to draw forth tears

And produce a longing in the heart of man

To see good

To find beauty

To know God

Even evil has a purpose in the hand of God

To produce His end

He is beauty

Doesn’t it testify to God’s realness

when men have sublime peace

In the midst of darkest evil

Isn’t it true

That the beauty of faith

Can only be revealed

When it rises from the fires

Of

testing by evil

my soul is now resting joyously

in the hand of God

where no evil can damage me

and His hand will

bring me home

through all the fires

evil can tender

Yes,'the beauty of faith Can only be revealed When it rises from the fires Of testing by evil'. Darkness is only where there is no light.

I am so glad I read this. Theodicy is one of my greatest pursuit to understand, and one of the biggest questions nonbelievers ask of believers. This explains things really well. Like Ecclesiastes. Thanks for sharing your wisdom. This is definitely going on my favorites list.
