tide by Kate Swearingenhe waits pensive an anxious shoreline asking for her waves to return
considering the far off horizon through the desolate smudge of his wind-flurry sands
searching for her blue grey acquiescence in the smokey swirls of the sun at dusk
she rests on the calming curves of the sea beyond the waves in the synthesis of sounds and silence
amid the reds and golds of heaven on earth she is lullabied even to the corners of her
until it coils in and the waves bathe the barren shore where sensation meets perception
writhing the white line that separates us from heaven. 10/07/2004 Posted on 10/09/2004 Copyright © 2026 Kate Swearingen
