The Emptiness of Loneliness by Shonda Chrissonberrythe exterior gives no revelation
to the mystery inside
open the box
feel the cold against your face
look upon the desolate shelves
of my lonely fridge
a single soldier keeps watch
waiting for its companion to
ease itself into the opening opposite her
two they say are better than one
look upon the remaining slots
of my lonely toothbrush holder
my carriage awaits outside
ready to transport those
given to me to love
absent of cookie crumbs and Kool-aid drops
look upon the immaculate interior
of my lonely car
empty rooms
empty bed
void of everything I want
full of nothing I desire
look upon my lonely life
begging for its chance
