Lingering Regret

by Cymbre Dolphay

my misfortune is that I tasted
the wine of your adoration on my lips
and never returned to drink my fill

I had the flavor of the starlight
lingering on my senses when
you stole my concentration with a kiss
and shattered my quest for eternity

the bitter shock of losing the beauty
of the scent of moonbeams seducing me
drove me to find something more lovely
than the spice of your sunset essence
and eventually I forgot your brilliance

in my sad reflection upon the rings of Saturn
I caught the sound of your laughter
as potent as the darkness of the abyss
and as rare as the snowflakes of Mercury
telling me that even though you still longed for me
I'd never witness that twilight beauty again

Cymbre, how elegantly beautiful the words, symbolism, and images within these lines. Even with such sadness, there is a strength of character displayed where the turning point is in S3. I'm not sure if I've ever read any of your poems, and for the life of me, I'm not sure why. But I will return again to be enchanted by your words.
