Desolation by Leonard M HawkesHere
In Class
There is no Vision,
No sweetness,
No buoyancy of Song;
Only the rustle of Paper,
The humming of Light,
And the tedious passage of
Time.
But
When I cognized Catalina's Barrens,
What varied Diversity
On common themes of Home--
Adaptation, Abundance--
Anything but Nothing:
The Absense only
In the untrained
Eye.
For
Even in Aridity,
The Truest Sense
Knows Reverence.
