Surrender's Dance by Shonda Chrissonberryway up high
where I belong
holding tight
to what I know
mingling with all the others
yet, discontent
then I feel you
soft and stirring at first
I close my eyes and smile
you are so gentle
whispering in my soul
I start to loosen this hold on life
begin to let you in
give all of myself to you
and as you take control
you pull at me with an awesome force
my eyes now open
the smile fades
tears are born
I lose my grip
I'm falling, falling faster
like an autumn leaf
torn from its cozy branch
by the cold winter night
way up high
where it felt safe
holding tight to what it knew
mingling with all the others
yet, discontent
waiting for the touch
of your all-consuming whirlwind
to carry it to places
it has never been before
Please tell me~
How do I get back to where I began? 09/08/2004 Posted on 10/02/2004 Copyright © 2025 Shonda Chrissonberry

Posted by Alison McKenzie on 10/03/04 at 10:07 PM Surrender is a daily, sometimes hourly, sometimes minute-to-minute exercise employed to say, "Your will, not mine..." I love feeling as though I am right where I belong! I would die here, as long as I feel His hand is on me...I loved the movement of your words!! |
