The Haunting Call of the Loon by Jane E PearceThere's something delicious
about late afternoon,
appetizer to evening's
feast of contentment
Soft lights through pines
stirred by a breeze,
and the haunting call
of the loon.
.
Oil lamps cast shadows
over the gourmet repast,
the Victrola plays songs
that sweeten each taste,
with waltzes more symphonic
at dusk than at noon,
soft velvet night,
sweet velvet night,
and the haunting call
of the loon.

| Posted by Maureen Glaude on 10/03/04 at 04:46 PM delicious. Yes, poignant and haunting is the loon. I love the setting, the decor, all of this, as I long for such a place of the soul, and the tranquility and clarity of the loon call |
