bayardo san roman exposes:

by Lindsay Sanders

your secrets are many dear angel.
your darkness runs deep my heavenly
creature. still, it was your beauty that
quickly captured my eye that day.

you were hiding, little one. hiding from
the lie concealed in the whitespace of
your incandescent eyes. you told your
flowers your secrets, but they kept them
much better than your body did on that
dark, ominous night.

(one injury and two fatalities were reported
within the next twenty-four hours.)

your virgin skin and sullied heart soon were
battered by your mother’s harsh touch.

the accused’s entrails were soon baking in
the cruel, midday sun.

and i never lived again.

oh angela! although you have written a many
thousand words, still unspoiled by my eyes,
i know this alone:

tienes muchos secretos.
