Respite

by Jane E Pearce

Look away for a time,

from the bombs, hatred,

blood, and guns, butchered flesh,

and our body -bagged

beloved daughters and sons.

.

Ignore the evil for a while-

the barbarian cuts, man on man,

beady eyes flashing vengence

for some imagined insult

from a free foreign land.

.

Let's walk in the woods-you and I,

where birds have no retribution

in trees that know no sorrow,

we'll wear the peace like a shawl.

to prepare for the bombs tomorrow.

.

.

Well written Jane. I think we all look forward to the time when all of this stupidity is halted...Charlie
