Mark of Tantalus by T.J. CarverI, burning for the water,
have to wonder what I'm after;
and if I quench my one desire,
what more shall I then require?
My lips are raw, always bleeding
If I triumph in my drinking,
will the thirst remain and strengthen?
Will I drown in the tidal pull?
Or surface?
~Dedicated to E.R.E.

Tantalus' plight was never ending, so why should the poem have an actual resolution?
