Like a Phoenix

by Trisha De Gracia

We love like phoenix fire
Blazing summer trails with passion.

Timeless, endless love
to age and somewhat ail in fall...

The calm before a winter storm
and drama drenched catastophe,

We live as burnt birch skeletons
all stripped and barely wick.

Then,
without the slightest hitch
spring cultivates our ashes.

We're born
devout adherence clinging dogged
to our wings.

Amazing how our emotions and interactions with others mimic the cyclic seasons. Wonderful verse that shows a little more about being human than we generally like to admit.

"all stripped and barely wick." and "spring cultivates our ashes." Are my favorite lines. Delicate wording. Nice!
