Rondezvous

by Jane E Pearce

A curtain of haze fell from the sky today,
as a warn out summer went on her way,
and in her place of dimmed garb of green,
red and yellow plaids of fall are seen.
.
The landscape is changed, the season new,
but I can only think back to summer and you.
In moments of saneness, we're given reason-
this is the present- not summer the season,
but today I looked back(as mortals will do)
to a time now past -to summer and you.
..
So a walk I took to our favorite wood
where you and I, and summer once stood.
Except for the flick of a squirrel in a scare,
all was silent, the place was bare,
the moments were gone- I started to leave
when all of a sudden- I couldn't believe-
you were whispering low, as you did then.
I turned about-it was summer again.
The sky was blue , the leaves were green,
you with outstretched arms were seen,
we talked of what I can't remember,
but this I know, I dreaded September.
As silently as night steals away from the dawn,
as quickly as you came, you were as quickly gone.
.
The walk back was cool and crisp,
the wind swept by with a billowy wisp.
Having walked up the path, I stood by the door,
and looked about-it was winter once more.
.

Found this today-gads did I write this?? Must have had it bad.
