Keep the Tenderness Alive

by Mary Ellen Smith

Years go by and seasons change.
Hurried lives rearrange.
To and fro on busy roads
Carrying life’s many loads.

Take care to stop and look about.
Put down the load of strife and doubt.
Look into a loved ones eyes
Deep within where love abides.

Remember to share a caring touch.
Sometimes a touch can mean so much.
Keep the tenderness alive
Nurture it so it can thrive.

A kind word helps the day go by.
From first hello to last goodbye.
From first good morning to good night
It’s up to you to make life bright.

Remember when she was a bride.
Or he a groom there at your side.
The vow recited does not get old
That promise then to have and hold.

We all get tired from our days.
And weary from the world’s dismays.
Sweetness and care can survive
If we keep the tenderness alive.

Amen M.E. I am one who believes in saying 'I love you,' fifty thousand times a day. I drive my wife and kids crazy with it LOL. Very good poem. Words to live by.
