Flight

by Christopher Shin

Over and over I
figure out words to
say to you in my head.
As you who would try
and understand what
makes me tick.

Each part bleeds for
understanding and hopeful
acceptance in your world.
Only to face defeat
and misery at the end
of countless disappointment.

Each hour reminds me of
how I am a failure to you all.
Each minute continues to
haunt me of how much
fire and hatred you have
for me.

Slowly I can not bear your
scrutiny any longer.
Slowly I wish you would
merely end my existence.
Slowly your heart tells
me that words can not describe
the intensity of your engine.

Be a friend unto me as
I would be unto you.
Turn a way as I have
already betrayed you.

Let me feel the wind through
my hair as the world comes
tumbling down onto me.
Let me cry a last tear as
I see the universe in a blink.
Let me be embraced by my earthen
mother.

For now forget me for when you do
you will be one less victim of
my demise.

I like it. But sometimes the line breaks don't make sense. Like in the 2nd to last stanza where you say, "Let me feel the wind through/my hair as the world comes/tumbling down onto me." It feels awkward to read it like that. It might work better as, "Let me feel the wind through my hair/as the world comes tumbling down onto me."
