Elastic by Amanda Conloguemy heartstrings strung
tight, stretched with you
on the road, leaving
somewhere in the sinking
light, headlights illuminate
grey ribbons of road
tires eating up
asphalt, spinning
distance between us
I never knew a heart
could be so elastic
I'd been told stories
of heartbreak, shattered
remains, yet I stand
whole-hearted
each beat a revelry
a dance for love. 09/08/2004 Posted on 09/09/2004 Copyright © 2024 Amanda Conlogue
