Scary eyebrows

by Mary Ellen Smith

I never really understood
Why women penciled in
Above their eyes in black or brown
That thin upside down grin.

The impression is, one would surmise
The eyebrow got untamed.
But now I know as time goes on
White hair should be blamed.

They grow in wild and thick and white
Once plucked they come back stronger
And with the razor’s sharpened edge
I’ll deal with them no longer.

Just a little, I’ll shave a bit…
Oh dear, I’ve done it now
Where did I put that pencil…..?
I haven’t got a brow!

lol, I am horrible at plucking stray eye brow hairs. I usually get every other hair but the one I am after. My mom doesn't even have to bother with it as hers are invisible(blond) along with her eyelashes.

This is a real eye opener, Mary Ellen. A great look at humanity, and the process we all struggle with, just to look fashionable for the people we don't know or can't remember, hehe! Pe4ce...

Definitely brought a laugh as the thickening, graying brows are certainly not unique to women. Alas, I've foregone the pencil and opt for the scissors instead. Wonderful stuff!

Great humor and verse. I love it.
