morning after

by Lindsay Sanders

she likes your smile
& the laughter in your eyes.
you like her hair
& the way her skirt brushes
her upper thigh.

but this morning the sky
is lacking air & you wonder
why the walls in your bedroom
seem to press into your chest
& the spots on the floor & bed
where her tears landed seem to
repel human contact.

if only you could have seen deeper
than the reflection of light & color
perceived by your cornea.

"if only you could have seen deeper than the reflection of light & color perceived by your cornea." That is a great line...you really captured a mood in this.
