Beyond The Rainbow

by James Zealy

Beyond the Rainbow
Past the golden pot of dreams
Over the fairy dust glow
Tinkerbelle Wings fantasies flight
Peter Pan whimsy, grows to adult dreams
Flying high on tenor voice
To a kingdom of care
Knowledge mingled with charismatic entity
Ready for the ultimate test of maturity
Relieved of self doubt
No longer afraid to succeed
Germinating seeds of self worth
Fed by tears
Of past due acceptance
Reborn confident and proud
Ready for the last step
Delayed but not forgotten
As the new dream begins
With the completion of the old
As the story begins anew
And play pretend games
Gives rise to living the vision.

Author's Note: My son is a female impersonator. He is also the 25th anniversary Miss Gay North Carolina Title Holder. His speciality was Judy Garland, and actually sang Over the Rainbow live (no Lip synche). Last night He gave up the title, as this years winner was announced. He has obtained a years scholarhip at a local community college for a vocal ensemble and at last seems ready to leave the fantasy behind, and begin a new dream.
