beauty is the mask all of the cowards wear.

by Wendy Geal

As long as you jolt & stare
I will be a fright.
The ugliness rains over me,
An unsightly pour.
The mirror bleeds out , little wicked spectrum.
It lies.
I will use the jagged perimeters of it to stab,
cut cut cut you out of my
World. at night inside my mad head,
I view these cinema- memories you curse me with.
scoff, scoff
your words could kill.
I will swallow them and let the pain echo through
my insides like so much blood
flowing over and over my edges
it summons you, it hunts you down.
calling down and out to your shocking
cowardice- pit, hiding and
tucked, safe away in beauty;
your illusion- mask.

Author's Note: about everyones insecurities and those who
use their beauty to make other people weaker
beauty is a mask they hide behind.

Wow! Wendy, this poem is coming from a place of evident pain, and you express it well. Sounds like a scary place to be in your head alone. Great work!
