I lifted A Rock Today

by James Zealy

I lifted a rock today
I found something I had been hiding away
A gift I had not known or seen
Or maybe I was afraid to reveal
Those thoughts that were deeply personal
Yet I found the need to say these things
To share the contents of my soul
I lifted a rock today
And found myself
Hidden from the rest of the world
Afraid to come out and say
I am here!
I am unafraid of letting others see the thoughts I feel
I am free to be me
Free to see the truth
Free to share it
Free to live it
I placed the rock back in its place
The gifts I share alive and embraced

This makes me want to applaud!!! It has such a triumphant feel to it!

This is exactly what happened to me yesterday! Everything in this breath-giving freeing chronology poem! I feel the weight off me! I feel the glee! And for some miraculous reason I do not know, - I landed in the very poem that describes it all. Terrific!
