Come to This

by Alison McKenzie

It’s come to this -

Acceptance and grace,
Fists of anger abated,
Quiet remission of anxious tuber,
Seeds falling into fertile soil.

It’s come to this -

Love and forgiveness,
Satin blankets of mercy
Shielding denigrated accusations,
Gusts of life rupturing ancient web of lies.

It’s come to this -

Tender caress
Sweeping away the poison,
Healing embrace of prayers
Molding broken pieces.

It’s come to this -

Wrought of redemption’s covenant,
Crimson love spilt for
Gift of eternity,
Radiant burst of my heart!

It’s come to this -

You and I;
Our chance to find our way again;
Path of brambles rescinded,
Pinpoint miracle of light exploding
In brilliant guidance.

It’s come to this –

My God.

My arms lifted to the heavens,
Tomb of defeated tears sealed in
Acclamation of praise and hail;
Glory of joy’s blossom
In an infinite season of salvation.

Thank God it’s come to this.

This was so beautiful. I felt my soul lift along with the words "my arms lifted to the heavens...Thank God it's come to this". What a glorious toddler's "pick me up". I toddle around all the time looking for these kinds of pick me ups. Thank you!
